Engaging with a therapist is a big commitment, and you likely have questions.

How much does therapy cost?

Consultations with Heather are $210 for a 50-minute session.

Under a Mental Health Care Plan through your GP, Medicare rebates are $89.65 per session.

Heather may offer a concession rate to eligible clients, which is negotiated. 

Can I get a mental health CARE plan for sessions?

Yes. Please see your GP to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan. 

When and how do I pay for my therapy sessions?

You pay for the session in full once it is complete. You can only pay by debit or credit card; unfortunately we cannot accept cash. 

Does health insurance cover therapy?

Possibly. Speak to your insurance provider for the details of any rebates.

How long is each therapy session?

A session is 50 minutes.

Ensure you have plenty of time to travel to and from the session, including parking, Ubers/taxis or public transport.

If your sessions are online, please ensure you are set up technologically before your session is due to start – charge your batteries or plug in, check your audio and video, and you’re good to go!

What is therapy, and how does it work?

What should I expect during my first therapy session?

During your first therapy session, Heather will get to know you and your concerns, then make an assessment and treatment plan for your individual circumstances.

You will have the opportunity to discuss your goals for therapy, and Heather will explain the therapy process and answer any questions you may have.

Can I receive therapy online?

Yes,  Heather offers telehealth sessions. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy, and it may be more convenient for some clients.

I need to reschedule - what do I do?

Contact the clinic by email or phone and arrange another time that suits. You can view the bookings calendar to see if there are openings. 

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy can vary depending on your needs and goals.

Some people may only need a few sessions, while others may need long-term therapy. It is important to discuss your goals and expectations with Heather to develop a treatment plan that meets your needs.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. Heather keeps your information private, and anything you discuss during therapy will not be shared without your permission, except in certain circumstances where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

What happens during a therapy session?

During a therapy session with Heather, you will explore your concerns and she will help you to develop strategies.

Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes, and you may discuss a range of topics, including your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be helpful for anyone who is struggling with their mental and emotional health. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed, or are working through a specific challenge, therapy may be a good option for you.

What are Heather's qualifications and experience?

Heather has a Masters in Psychology and has worked in both the public and private sectors. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA), a registered Medicare Provider, and a member of the Australia Psychological Society (MAPS).

Heather is an experienced psychologist, working with a range of clients with diverse  needs. 

What should I do if I feel uncomfortable during therapy?

It is important to speak with Heather if you feel uncomfortable during therapy. Your therapist wants you to feel safe and supported, so they will work with you to address any concerns you may have.

What is heather's cancellation policy?

Heather has a 24- hour cancellation policy. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment time, please advise her as soon as possible.

With less than 24 hours notice, a fee of 50% of the scheduled session fee will be charged.
